Senior Laboratory Technician

If you’re an experienced laboratory professional who enjoys the practical side of science, solving problems and getting stuck into the detail, this could be a really interesting opportunity.

We’re working with a growing, science-led business that is looking for a Senior Laboratory Technician to join its R&D team in Oxfordshire.

This is a hands-on role for someone who genuinely enjoys laboratory work. You’ll be involved in analytical testing, laboratory trials and product development, working alongside the wider R&D team and helping to generate the reliable data they need to move projects forward.

There’s plenty of technical variety, and you’ll have the opportunity to use the skills you already have while continuing to develop your knowledge and experience.

What will you be doing?

No two days will be exactly the same, but your work will include:

• Running laboratory assays including OPA, DH, Bradford and SDS-PAGE
• Operating, maintaining and troubleshooting HPLC methods and instrumentation
• Supporting R&D projects, laboratory trials and new product development
• Recording, analysing and reporting laboratory data accurately
• Looking after laboratory equipment, analytical methods and SOPs
• Investigating and resolving analytical and equipment issues
• Supporting laboratory health & safety, COSHH documentation and risk assessments
• Helping to improve laboratory methods and processes where you see an opportunity to do things better

What are we looking for?

We’re looking for someone with good, solid laboratory experience who is confident working hands-on and enjoys the technical side of the job.

You’ll have experience of:

• Working in a laboratory, analytical or R&D environment
• Protein, polysaccharide and/or lipid chemistry
• Running OPA, DH, Bradford and SDS-PAGE assays
• HPLC, including troubleshooting methods and instrumentation
• Producing accurate, reliable and reproducible analytical results
• Working carefully and methodically, with a real eye for detail

You’ll also be someone who enjoys learning. Perhaps you’ve spent many years building your laboratory experience and now want a role where that knowledge is genuinely useful, or you may be looking for the next step where you can broaden your technical skills.

Importantly, this isn’t a role for someone looking to move away from the lab and into management. We’re looking for someone who enjoys being hands-on and wants to stay close to the science.
