The Role

We are seeking a Quality Assurance Manager to join the technical team. Reporting to the Depot Technical Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring food safety and quality standards are maintained across the site.

You will lead and motivate a small but highly engaged quality team, working closely with operational departments to ensure compliance with internal procedures, legal requirements and customer standards. The role will involve driving continuous improvement within the site’s Quality Management System while supporting the depot to maintain excellent standards during internal and external audits.

This is a hands-on role within a busy depot environment, requiring strong collaboration with operational teams and technical colleagues across other sites.

Key Accountabilities

  • Manage food safety and quality standards across the depot operation
  • Lead and support the site Quality Assurance team in day-to-day activities
  • Maintain and continuously improve the site Quality Management System
  • Conduct internal audits and support external audit preparation and compliance
  • Identify non-compliance issues and work with the depot management team to implement corrective actions
  • Oversee the inspection and quality management of products received, stored and dispatched
  • Monitor and report on departmental KPIs and quality performance metrics
  • Manage quality and food safety complaints, ensuring thorough investigation and timely resolution
  • Maintain strong working relationships with operational teams and technical colleagues across other group sites
  • Champion a positive food safety and quality culture across the depot

Person Profile

The successful candidate will bring experience working within a food manufacturing, fresh produce or food distribution environment and have a strong understanding of quality and food safety systems.

You will have:

  • Experience working with BRCGS standards and quality management systems
  • HACCP and Food Safety qualifications (Level 3 or equivalent)
  • Experience conducting internal or supplier audits
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence across all levels of the business
  • A proactive and detail-oriented approach to quality and compliance
  • The ability to lead, motivate and develop a small team
  • Strong IT and numerical skills to analyse data and monitor performance
  • Excellent level of written and spoken English

You will also be comfortable working in a fast-paced operational environment, managing multiple priorities while maintaining high standards of accuracy and attention to detail.
