Junior Buyer/Purchaser

Our client, a manufacturing company located near Montreal, QC is looking for a Junior Buyer to join their team. 

 

What you will do in this role:

 

  • Plan and source materials globally to procure all components necessary for manufacturing our products in addition to the purchasing of all factory supplies.
  • Analyze inventory and production reports to validate material availability and accuracy, adjusting procurement strategies as needed.
  • Issue purchase orders and requisitions while validating costs to ensure cost-effectiveness and accuracy.
  • Follow up on delivery dates, communicate updates and changes to relevant departments, and track purchase orders to support the production schedule.
  • Monitor and track vendor service issues, communicating cross-departmentally to ensure timely resolution.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and departments to maintain proper inventory levels and support the production schedule.
  • Support the reception department by correcting non-compliant delivery vouchers or missing information to ensure smooth operations.
  • Support accounts payable by managing billing and payables related to suppliers and vendors, matching purchase orders with invoices, and ensuring timely payment processing.
  • Prepare and maintain purchasing files, reports, and price lists to facilitate financial transactions and reporting.
  • Work closely with R&D and Quality teams to ensure all necessary documentation, including FDA and US customs requirements and quality control certificates, are obtained for materials.
  • Process non-compliance reports and manage returns of materials as needed to maintain quality standards.
  • Participate in improving the material supply chain by developing expectations for suppliers and collaborating with all departments to enhance procurement processes.
  • Contribute to ongoing process improvements and initiatives aimed at optimizing efficiency and reducing costs.
  • Perform any other duties related to the position as required to support the overall goals and objectives of the organization.

 

What you will bring to the role:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management, preferably in a global manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in inventory management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements, quality control standards, and industry best practices related to materials procurement.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
