Health & Safety Coordinator

We are currently seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Health & Safety Coordinator to manage the day-to-day health and safety operations within our factory. This hands-on role is vital to ensuring compliance, maintaining a safe working environment, and supporting our ongoing commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily health and safety activities within the factory, ensuring compliance with ISO45001 standards.
  • Carry out scheduled maintenance, safety checks, and basic DIY tasks on equipment and systems such as:
    • FLTs, pallet trucks, compactors, bailers, ovens, lifts, hoists, IPAF scissor lifts
    • LEV, suppression systems, air conditioning, security, CCTV
    • Emergency lighting, fire alarms (P1 system), bell testing
    • Machine safety, boilers, refrigeration, and chilling systems
  • Deliver on-site Health and Safety training including:
    • E-learning, Inductions, COSHH, and PPE
  • Manage Legionella control systems (flushing, sampling, water checks).
  • Support the creation and implementation of risk assessments and control measures.
  • Conduct audits of general areas (housekeeping, compliance, safety controls, waste collections).
  • Assist with accident investigations and RIDDOR reporting as required.
  • Manage contractor activities through a Permit to Work system, including Hot Work Permits.
  • Handle administrative tasks and support business development where needed (e.g., maintenance forms, service reports, visitor logs).
  • Keep abreast of legislation changes and maintain working knowledge of HSE regulations affecting the business.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • A NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent health and safety qualification (essential).
  • Proven experience in a similar role, preferably within the food industry.
  • Current certifications in:
    • First Aid
    • Fire Marshalling
    • IPAF
    • Food Safety
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and work within a set budget.
  • A hands-on, practical approach with a passion for safety and compliance.
