Electromechanic (Nights)

Responsibilities

• Respond to production and packaging equipment breakdowns and service calls to minimize downtime.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, motors, sensors, controls, and automation systems.
• Maintain and repair conveyors, fillers, sealers, wrappers, labelers, printers/coders, checkweighers, metal detectors, and packaging lines.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production, processing, packaging, and facility equipment.
• Replace and repair motors, bearings, belts, chains, gearboxes, sensors, switches, and pneumatic components.
• Perform equipment changeovers, setups, adjustments, installations, modifications, and start-ups.
• Work closely with Production Supervisors to coordinate repairs and reduce production interruptions.
• Identify recurring equipment problems and root causes, implementing solutions to improve reliability.
• Assist with new equipment installation, relocation, commissioning, and major maintenance projects.
• Inspect equipment for wear, damage, abnormal operation, and potential failures.
• Complete and maintain accurate work orders, maintenance records, equipment modifications, and PM documentation.
• Verify equipment is safe and fully operational before returning it to Production.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing downtime, waste, and equipment failures.
• Follow GMP, food safety, SQF, hygiene, health & safety, and lockout/tagout requirements to protect product integrity.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area and properly manage tools, parts, lubricants, and chemicals.
• Communicate equipment issues, repairs, quality concerns, and follow-up requirements to Maintenance and Quality teams.
• Collaborate with Maintenance, Production, Warehouse, Quality, and other departments.
• Assist with training and onboarding new Electromechanics and share technical knowledge with team members.

Requirements:

• Diploma of Vocational Studies (DEP) in Electromechanics of Automated Systems, Industrial Mechanics, or a related field.
• Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in electromechanical or industrial maintenance.
• Hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing production and packaging machinery in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in food manufacturing is considered a strong asset.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and industrial equipment systems.
• Experience troubleshooting motors, sensors, conveyors, gearboxes, pneumatic components, and automated machinery.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and maintenance management systems.
• Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP),
• Knowledge of quality systems and SQF requirements is considered an asset.
• French and English communication skills appropriate to the requirements of the position.
