Technical Assistant

The Company. 

This is a fast-growing UK based food group that sources food products from manufacturing facilities around the world and supply direct to retailers, food producers and foodservice. 

The Role.

An office-based position, this is an excellent position to gain a wide-ranging technical experience within a range of customers including many of the UK’s leading retailers, within a diverse product offering including multi-proteins, party food snacks, value added products, desserts, seafood. As a junior assistant in the Technical department, you will be given an excellent opportunity to gain vast technical experience.

Key Accountabilities.

• Customer and supplier specification writing starting with basic products and leading to very complex products (50-100 ingredients)
• Preparing products for nutrition and microbiological analyses and follow through to management of results
• Carry out data logged cooking validations to appropriate guidelines
• Work as part of a team to approve and sign off artwork, labels, pack copies for retail, foodservice and trading sectors of the business
• Participate in the NPD process of arranging and testing samples and preparing technical data sheets for customer presentations
• Site production attendance to ensure adherence to specifications, initially accompanied
• Retail customer exposure for production runs, accompanied by other team members

• Enthusiastic, self-motivated and confident communicator
• Must be able to work to deadlines
• Work on their own initiative
• IT literate, use of retailer specification systems
• Some experience of working in the food industry
• Demonstrate a flexible and professional approach
