Protein Commodity Trader

Our client is a leading and growing commodity (proteins, produce) brokerage company that is looking to bring on board a talented North American Commodity Trader (Protein).

Please note this is an onsite position, there is no remote capability.

What we are looking for you to do:

• Identify and review offerings on a daily basis and distribute the offerings via email to SGF Traders (North America and Export)
• Contact global suppliers daily for commodity pricing information and specific offerings based on customer needs
• Contact customers with offerings and negotiate prices between suppliers and customers for purchase of sale (North America only)
• Obtain approval from Director of North American Sales, regarding bringing on new customers as well as short and long positions
• Communicate terms of sale to supplier and customer
• Provide written confirmation of the order, place in file and send to Traffic department to confirm logistics and timelines
• Follow-up to ensure all logistics are completed and deadlines are met
• Troubleshoot transportation issues as required by working directly with trucking companies and Traffic Coordinators
• Provide continuous customer service and monitoring of active deals
• Provide resolution to issues regarding product quality
• Liaise with buyers regarding credit issues as required
• Develop and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and customers
• Attend trade shows as appropriate
• Prospect for new business by reviewing directories, talking to suppliers/customers and market research
• Assist Traffic with finding new transportation clients as needed
• Check closed files for accuracy

The ideal candidate will have:

• 3+ years of commodity trading experience
• Experience within the food service industry is considered an asset
• Must have experience with protein trading and an established book of business
