This well-established global business is a supplier of high-quality natural ingredients to some of the world’s largest food, beverage and pharmaceutical companies.  They are now looking to recruit an Applications Technologist. 

 

 

The Role

This position will assist in the development of high-quality market ready products showcasing a range of natural and innovative food ingredients.

The Application Technologist will make high quality products across the different categories (e.g. beverages, dairy, bakery, confectionery, chocolate) using a varied range of ingredients including flavours, colours, juices, powders and many other ingredients.  The jobholder will help with the efficient daily running of the NPD Department. This will include following food and equipment safety protocols, good hygiene practice and materials stock control.

Hands on practical work to make consistent high quality product samples

Leading projects independently as well as working with the team supporting them to deliver projects

Working with team to ensure application lab is kept safe, hygienic, clean and ensuring stock control, in accordance with health & safety policies.

Delivering all assigned application projects and workload on time and to the required quality

Providing selections for customers on time and fully completed

Creating new products that meet customer briefs

Occasional travel to other locations and to customers may be required

Work independently in applications laboratory able to follow instructions and recipes

Collaborating with others in a positive way

The ability to communicate with people of all levels, both written and verbally

Project management skills – able to prioritise, plan and organize own workload

An understanding of how flavours and ingredients interact in products to be able to create new recipes to meet customer requirements

An understanding of application equipment and process manufacturing technology

Willingness and interest in the tasting of all types of products

Degree or an equivalent qualification in a scientific field - Food Science or Technology preferred

At least two years work experience in new product development ideally within the ingredients industry, hands-on practical experience is advantageous

This position is based in Hertfordshire, there is no option for hybrid working
