Head of Supply Chain

£70k-£75k per annum

A new role has become available for someone to work head up the Supply Chain division for our client based in County Down.

Job Role

Requirements
• Negotiate overall best terms ensuring that the supply base and product meet the required business objectives in terms of financial, technical, corporate social responsibility, innovation, brand positioning and customer expectations
• Drive Supply Chain optimisation: Have a holistic view of Supply Chain Management to provide the
reliable service required while optimising inventory, storage, and transport costs
• Full ownership of inbound and outbound freight to ensure we are partnered with the right suppliers on the right modes considering the best value and efficiency
• Leading the team on customer expectations and relationship management on all supply chain activities; Inbound and outbound logistics, materials availability and planning and delivery service levels
• Responsible for transport fleet operations and backhaul fleet utilisation optimising trailer fill and cost per case inbound and outbound
• Create a Supply Chain sustainability strategy in line with the requirements of BCorp Certification. This to include targeted reductions on Carbon emissions within the overall supply chain, Circular procurement, and the governance for transparency across the business
• Ensure the Inventory Control program is robust by driving ownership and accountability at all levels, with clear processes and performance measurement standards. Maintain and improve inventory accuracy, driving a culture of control and inventory record discipline
• Manage, challenge vendors on their performance based on value for money, quality and delivery
service level considering a high level of innovation that is required
• Support bill of material pricing in conjunction with commercial finance to ensure most competitive
pricing is delivered to the customer
• Present monthly reporting highlighting variances against budget for key areas of spend together with associated plans to rectify any areas of under-recovery
• Review and implement an overall SKU rationalisation plan in conjunction with NPD to support supply chain optimisation and efficiency
• Source new supply chain vendors in line with our clients sourcing and sustainability strategy
• Management of indirect spend which will include sourcing, negotiation and contracting on 3rd party
warehousing, transport, facilities, and operational equipment
• Implement a supply chain continuous improvement plan that will deliver incremental savings to those already assumed in the budget
• Develop formal product/ service category strategies, that develop a deep understanding of each area of key spend, together with associated short, medium, and long-term proposed procurement plans
• Constantly update overall quality market intelligence gathering to ensure strong positioning in all price negotiations, to best manage risk, and to ensure better informed sourcing decisions across all areas of business spend
• Regular stakeholder engagement with Head of Operations / Commercial and Food Development & Innovation to fully share supply and demand position within the supply base and collaboratively find solutions to ensure continuity of supply
• Chair all business Sales & Operational (S&OP) planning meetings and update on required actions as needed
• Develop risk management strategies, with supporting action plans, to minimise any adverse business impact due to supply chain issues
• Manage the raw materials and packaging replenishment team plus Logistics teams via regular
performance reviews, 1:1’s , training and development requirements

 

Personal Profile
• Directing and influencing the mission, vision, and values of our client through supporting performance metrics, coaching, and mentoring the supply chain team
• Previous people management skills incorporating a range of business activities
• Strong numeric and verbal reasoning skills / IT literate
• Good attention to detail and excellent communicator
• Ability to make challenging decisions and to take a calm and measured approach in a pressurised
environment
• Ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
• Previous experience of MRP / WMS / ERP / Integrated Commercial Forecasting systems
• Operational FMCG procurement and experience of forecasting for manufacturing experience
• Proven experience of creating strong vendor / 3rd party warehousing & logistics relationship
management systems
