Assistant Procurement Manager

£50k per annum

Our client based in Surrey are searching for a new Assistant Procurement Manager to join their business in a newly created and exciting role.

Job Role
The Assistant Procurement Manager will work closely with key stakeholders, building strong relationships and identifying new opportunities for our client.

Requirements
• Procure our fresh produce from importers (this includes identifying fresh fruit that matches quality standards)
• Negotiating prices and developing relationships with suppliers
• Make stock entries for both direct and market purchases
• Daily stock count to derive closing stock position, identify shorts and longs in stock position
• Cooperate with Quality Control, Production and manage wastage: Before, during and after production you must respond to or communicate quality issues identified by yourself and the production team.
• Provide feedback to help the Procurement Manager negotiate credit notes if required
• Organise invoice and delivery notes for processing/approval
• Monitor and control stock of packaging, accessory and warehouse stock – Biweekly
• Supervise the forward buying, and other tasks, for London hub when the Procurement Manger is on annual leave
• Report on a weekly basis during our meeting KPIs, fruit quality and other, procurement related aspects
• Liaise with the Regional Managers regarding fruit mix, prices and fruit volumes

Personal Profile
• Fresh produce procurement experience (2-3 years)
• Energetic and driven
• Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) to have the ability to negotiate cost prices, discuss quality issues with suppliers and build relationships
• Attention to detail and willingness to strive for excellence in producing a consistently high-quality product
• Possess a “hands-on” nature and team spirit
• Ability to receive “constructive feedback” on quality issues and act quickly to resolve them
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word
• Experience of driving a van
• Forklift driving experience (not essential)

Hours
Monday – Friday 5:30am-1:30pm
